چکیده
Abstract The structure and variations of the North Equatorial Counter Current (NECC) in far western Pacific Ocean during 2014-2016 are investigated using repeated in-situ hydrographic data, altimeter Argo reanalysis data. NECC shifted ~1 degree southward intensified significantly with its transport exceeding 40 Sv (1 = 10 6 m 3 s -1 ), nearly double climatology value, developing phase 2015/16 El Niño event. Observations show that exerted a comparable impact on extreme 1997/98 Ocean. Baroclinic instability provided primary energy source for eddy kinetic (EKE) Niño, which differs from traditional understanding EKE as barotropic low latitude ocean. enhanced vertical shear reduced density jump between layer subsurface Subsurface (NESC) renders NECC–NESC system baroclinically unstable phase. eddy-mean flow interactions here diverse associated various states Southern Oscillation (ENSO).

the effect of e-64 on the developmental competence of sheep cocs during in vitro maturation
in the present study, the effect of e-64 at different concentrations (0.5, 1, 5 and 10 µm) added to (1) the ivm medium on oocyte nuclear maturation and developmental competence of ovine oocytes, and (2) to the ivc medium on embryonic development of ovine embryos were investigated.
Fukushima-derived radiocesium in the western North Pacific in 2014
In 2014, we measured activity concentration of radiocesium in the western North Pacific Ocean. In the north of Kuroshio Front high activity concentration of Fukushima-derived radiocesium in surface mixed layer in 2012 had been transported eastward by 2014. In the south of the front we found a radiocesium subsurface maximum in 200-600 m depth, which was similar to that observed in 2012. The subs...

متن کاملForecasting Ocean Chlorophyll in the Equatorial Pacific
Using a global ocean biogeochemical model combined with a forecast of physical oceanic and atmospheric variables from the NASA Global Modeling and Assimilation Office, we assess the skill of a chlorophyll concentrations forecast in the Equatorial Pacific for the period 2012-2015 with a focus on the forecast of the onset of the 2015 El Niño event. Using a series of retrospective 9-month hindcast...
متن کاملSouth Pacific influence on the termination of El Niño in 2014
The El Niño/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is the dominant mode of climate variability affecting worldwide extreme weather events; therefore, improving ENSO prediction is an important issue. In this regard, a peculiar time evolution of ENSO in 2014 posed a challenge to the climate science community. Despite the observance of several precursors for a strong El Niño to develop during the summer and ...
